The Musicmen Cometh!

This is the marriage of two musical minds, Josh Bain and Nolan Ross. Friends since high school, they've seen the seven wonders of the world, jumped from helicopters, hang-glided, climbed Mt. Everest, and even offered jokes over dinner with Bono, Springsteen, Clapton, and others.

Okay, none of that is true except the friends since high school part. Nonetheless, these guys love music and love talking about it. We hope you enjoy it.

Some New Stuff

I’ll admit to just recently discovering Foals, due to this kid, who plays drum covers, ranging from Phoenix’s “1901” to Death Cab for Cutie’s, “The New Year,” to, on topic, a handful of Foals songs on their debut record, Antidotes.

And, let’s face it: Foals is great no matter how you look at them.  Whether you are a drummer or a drum connoisseur, this is a great band.  From the minute the first song, “The French Open” kicks in, you know you’re in for a ride by some seriously mature writers from England.  ”Olympic Airways” is an immediate favorite when you spin the record, with its electric guitar harmonics and stellar drumming.  I don’t know if the band set out to write songs completely based around cool drum beats or what, but they did well with their endeavors.  Most of the time it makes me want to be a drummer, rather than a guitar player.

Second on the list is the ever-faithful, Owl City.  I’ve written about him, to be proper, Adam Young before, but you see, he’s got really great pop electronica songs that need to be heard.  It’d be neat to see him on the radio because he deserves the airplay.  Whether you’re an elitist or not, or like one of those Coldplay fans that got mad when A Rush of Blood to the Head got some airplay, Owl City knows how to write and does it extremely well.  Anywho, the new record can be bought off of Itunes in four days.  I repeat four days!  July 14 is the day, unless you want to wait until July 28 to get the physical release in your hands, artwork and all.
